Recycling your scrap metal is easy with JK’s. Just follow these simple steps!
- Sort your scrap into different grades
- Bring ABN & proof of identity
- Deliver to one of our recycling centres
- Weigh each item
- Receive cash for your scrap!
Sorting
Make sure you do not mix different types of scrap in your load. Keep different metals in separate containers. If you can remove extraneous items such as steel screws from aluminium, insulation from copper wire, etc you will receive a higher price.
ABN & Proof of Identity
When selling scrap to us you must supply us with:
- Your name and address
- Proof of identity
- An ABN or valid Statement by Supplier (see below)
Deliver
Our recycling centre at 360 Huntingdale Rd, South Oakleigh is open from 7:30am to 4:30pm Mon-Thu, and to 4pm on Friday. We are also open on Saturday morning.
Weigh
Our staff will weigh up each item in your load and give you a weighbridge ticket to take to our cashier for payment.
Payment
Present the cashier with your weighbridge ticket to receive your payment. You must also supply us with your name, address, proof of identity and ABN. If you do not have an ABN we will require you to sign a Statement by Supplier.
Please note that we do not pay for scrap steel loads weighing under 500kg. You may, however, dump these loads free of charge.
ATO Code of Compliance
We adhere to the Australian Tax Office’s Code of Compliance for the scrap metal industry. This means that we will withhold 46.5% of your payment and remit it to the Tax Office unless:
The value of the transaction is less than $82.50; OR
You supply us with an ABN; OR
You can demonstrate a valid reason for not withholding and you sign a Statement By Supplier to that effect.
